Drive it like ya stole it!

So many events... in so little time! Where do I start???
Well, I guess you could say that the holidays started off a little rocky. Right before we were headed to Utah for Thanksgiving, our convertable car was stolen right out of our driveway! Such a wonderful experience... especially since this is only the 3rd time it has happened! Well actually the first 2 times it was our Durango, but this time it was the car. The Durango was stolen twice within a four month period (a couple of years ago). It was in the shop for over 3 months and we had barely gotten it back from the first theft where it was involved in a high speed chase! We were going on a week vacation to Disneyland and had scheduled an appointment to have the alarm installed the day after we returned from vacation. We woke up the next morning, after our trip home and our Durango was gone AGAIN before we could even get the alarm installed!!! Since then, we've installed cameras, motion lights and a motion sensor that sets off alarms in the house when anyone is near or around our vehicles. We've warded off several criminals over the years who have been caught prowling around our cars. All of our security features seemed to be working fabulously... but I guess there are loop holes to everything! We must have the most popular cars around, because someone REALLY wanted our car. They were very tricky at getting around all our sensors. They managed to smash in the door lock and get into the car, cracked the steering column without setting anything off. They were backing out of our driveway at 5:10 in the morning on a week day. That's when the motion sensors went off, waking us up 5 minutes before our normal "rise-n-shine" time. I'd say that was incredibly risky to be doing it at that time. So anyway, to make a long story short... they found the car the next day, stripped down. It has a chip in the key so when the steering column is cracked it can only be started three times. Eventually they were no longer able to drive it and they abandoned it. It was in the shop for over a month,getting over $6,000 worth of interior & exterior repairs done. Niiiiiiicce! Sad thing is, they probably only got less than $100 (street value) for the things they stole from the car. I'm glad to finally have my car back. The picture above was taken just a few days after it's return a week ago. So, needless to say, we have once again... improved our security features and are sending out a warning. DO NOT prowl around our house at night unless you want to get SHOT!!!! Toilet papering or any other pranks would NOT be a good idea.
